I thought I'd bring this one up again...there's a great article in ABCNews.com about a fifty-year old African American history professor who decided to get a genetic test. Imagine his surprise when he discovered that even though he had lived as an African American all his life, he discovered that he had no genetic roots to Africa at all. A fascinating story about ethnicity, genetics, and what it really means to be "black" or "white."
NOTE: The link no longer works, but his story was profiled in the book Trace Your Roots With DNA.
